Our first year
2025: 15 families, two states, zero infrastructure
How 15 baskets became a mission
In November 2025, with no nonprofit status, no funding, and no infrastructure, our founders hand-assembled complete Thanksgiving baskets and delivered them directly to families in need. 10 in Denver, Colorado and 5 in Palmer, Alaska. Running across two states was intentional: a pressure test for logistics, coordination, and execution before scaling.
It started with a story about a stranger who delivered a Thanksgiving meal to a family in need, and how that one act changed the trajectory of an entire life. That night, one commitment: “This year we feed 50 people.” Over 30 churches and food banks contacted. Four replied. One promised 20 addresses and delivered two. The gap between good intentions and follow-through was the first hard lesson, and the one that sharpened everything after.
The day before Thanksgiving, still short on addresses, they drove to subsidized housing complexes in person and connected with a longtime community volunteer who provided verified families in genuine need. On delivery day, at one government housing complex, a woman opened her door and whispered, “Are you serious?” As the door closed behind them, they heard: “OH MY GOD, YAY!”
Fifteen families fed from zero. Two states. One clear signal: this works, and it needs to scale. In 2026, we’re targeting 150 baskets in Austin and surrounding areas with the systems, partnerships and heart to do it right.
